Physiotherapy
As a professional health care discipline, physiotherapy is directed at preventing or alleviating pain and movement dysfunction. Following a comprehensive biomechanical assessment, a physiotherapist will diagnose and implement a treatment program to restore health. Treatment techniques include postural correction, therapeutic exercise, functional training, muscle imbalance evaluation, manual therapy mobilization, myofascial and deep tissue massage. Physical modalities include ultrasound, interferential current, muscle stimulation, acupuncture, gait retraining, and sport specific exercise. Physiotherapists provide one-on-one treatments focused on manual therapy and functional exercises.
Physiotherapists must meet training and educational standards in order to register to practice in Ontario. Thus, all Soma Physiotherapists must have completed a university degree program in physiotherapy or equivalent and have successfully passed a national exam.
